Church. Visit the Old City Squares with historical buildings.
Take an excursion to Mount Pilatus. From Alpnachstad ascend by the steepest rack
railway in the world to Pilatus Kulm, 7000ft high. On top have time to walk up to the vista point and admire
the breathtaking panorama over the Swiss Alps and Lucerne. Then descend by aerial cable car to Fraekmuentegg,
change to smaller cable cars which sweep you over pine forests and mountain meadows to the village of
Kriens
Tonight is our Welcome dinner and folklore show at a local Restaurant.
Day 3: Lucerne - Lugano
After breakfast we transfer to the boat pier in Lucerne where we board a paddle steamer for a relaxing cruise to
Fluelen. We disembark and drive following the upper River Reuss with its narrowing mountains and breathtaking
scenery.
F rom the holiday resort of Andermatt, we climb the St. Gotthard Pass, the most
famous of all Alpine passes, at an altitude of 6,917 feet above sea level. Named after a chapel constructed in
honor of Saint Gotthard, bishop of Hildesheim, the pass links the German speaking part of the country with the
Italian one. The road climbing to the pass is made up of a series of sharp bends, ending with a flat
depression.
We will stop along the St Gotthard Pass for an outside optional lunch of “grilled sausage” We can also stop in
Bellinzona – Capital of the Ticino and, of course, at the Chocolate Factory Alprose in Caslano.
Day 4: Lugano
Thanks to its geographical configuration Lugano is often called the "little Rio de
Janeiro“ of the Old Continent. Its subtropical vegetation and pleasant climate all year round make Lugano one
of the most popular Swiss holiday resorts. Lugano offers all the amenities of a cosmopolitan city in a
charming and relaxing atmosphere. A stroll through the characteristic traffic-free Old town with its many
arcades and cobble-stoned streets, (the Via Nassa, shopping mall of Lugano) the many piazza will drive you
even further into this romantic-latin world.
On our guided walking tour of Lugano discover some of the not-so-easy-to-get-to places in the surrounding area, as
well as the center of the town including the Monument of Independence, the Park, the Piazza Riforma, the Santa
Maria degli Angioli, the church of pure Franciscan character with its imposing frescoes.
Day 5: Lugano - Bernina Express
- St Moritz
We depart Lugano and soon cross the border into Italy, driving along the
shores of Lake Como to Tirano and on to Poschiavo.
We board the Bernina Express for a spectacular ride to St Moritz. Past Lake Poschiavo, through forests of chestnut
trees and around the famous circular viaduct in Brusio. Over the impressive heights of the Landwasser and Solis
Viaducts. In the Albula valley the Bernina Express winds its way through 5 loop tunnels from Preda to Bergün. The
very best leg of the journey begins as the train approaches the top of the Bernina Pass. Without cog wheels the
train ascends towards the magnificent alpine scenery; glaciers, snow and heady peaks surround the 7400 ft pass
crossing.

St. Moritz –world famous resort town - is located at an altitude of 1,856 m on the southern flank of the Swiss
Alps, amidst the lake landscape of the Engadine, the roof of Europe. Piz Bernina, the Eastern Alps' only peak above
13,120 ft presides over the Engadine. The sun shines here 322 days a year, guaranteeing an ideal vacation climate.
St. Moritz stands for cosmopolitan flair, elegance and style and the mention of its very name lifts spirits.
Day 6 - St Moritz
In summertime, St. Moritz offers the appealing combination of an unspoiled
natural environment, cultural activities, sports possibilities, attractive facilities, great shopping and a
relaxing atmosphere. Fascinating walks - exhilarating hikes, mountain biking tours, golf, horse riding,
windsurfing and sailing are some of the many activities which can be experienced on your day at
leisure.
Day 7: St Moritz - Glacier Express - Zermatt

Today we take the world-famous, slowest express train on its magnificent journey over the roof of Europe. From the
Bernina Mountains to the Matterhorn. The journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt covers 169 miles with 291 bridges and
91 tunnels straight across the Alps. It follows the valley carved by the Rhine and the Rhone, past the Rhone
Glacier amidst soaring peaks
Zermatt, the car-free world-class resort at the foot of the Matterhorn, is situated at
5300 ft. above sea-level. Well-known for the famous Matterhorn, its magnificent mountain, glacier scenery and its
unique climate. A touch of chic mixed with the idyllic atmosphere of a mountain village give Zermatt that special
feeling.
Day 8: Zermatt - Gornergrat
Today we take and excursion to Gornergrat by cogwheel train. The magnificent scenery
on and around the Gornerberg is a veritable Mecca for hikers - and there’s something for everyone. Enjoy an
easy, flat walk from Riffelalp to Grünsee, for instance - or to the Gornerglacier. The “Grat Trail” from
Gornergrat to Hohtälli or the glacier hike from Rothenboden to Monte Rosa demand a little more effort. And
there are many paths from Gornergrat back to Zermatt.
Day 9: Zermatt - Montreux - Bern - Zurich
Our guided tour takes us to the most striking of the Swiss castles, the impressive Chateau de Chillon. It was
erected in the 13th century on Roman foundations and was the residence of the County of Savoy throughout the Middle
Ages. Originally a fortress, the Castle of Chillon (same as Byron’s famous Prisoner of Chillon) underwent numerous
transformations while adapting to the advances in defensive and offensive weapons through the ages. Other
modifications were made to accommodate the pomp and ceremony of castle life. The dungeon is the major
attraction.
Berne, capital of Switzerland, dates back to the 12th century. With ancient fountains
and towers, sandstone steps and the famous 4 miles of arcaded streets with tempting shops makes this city a
paradise for shoppers and browsers. The main sights on our city tour are the Houses of Parliament, the Federal
Mint, the Cathedral in baroque style, the Clock Tower, the Town Hall and last but not least, the Bear
Park.
Farewell Dinner at local restaurant tonight.
Day 10: Depart Zurich, Switzerland
Time to say "Tschuss" to Switzerland and another singles vacation. As we take the hotel shuttle to the
Zurich airport and our flights home.
