The highlight of Vienna is a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburg family. Enjoy a morning "Imperial Tour“ with audio guides - forty rooms including the magnificent Hall of ceremonies, the imposing Gobelin Salon with its exquisite Brussels tapestries. Schönbrunn is one of Europe's most beautiful Baroque complexes and has been in the possession of the Habsburgs since 1569. The palace and garden complex was created from 1696 onwards. Today, due to its historical significance, its unique layout and magnificent furnishings, the palace is a UNESCO World Vienna State OperaHeritage site.
This afternoon we visit the State Opera for a guided tour. Take a look behind the scenes of the world's largest repertory operation and discover what remains hidden from the evening opera-goer. From the foyer, we will walk up the grand staircase through the state rooms (Tea Salon, Marble Hall, Schwindfoyer, Gustav Mahler Hall) to the auditorium (with a view of the stage).
Tonight enjoy dinner at a restaurant in the sunny vineyards of Vienna.

Heiligenkreuz AbbeyToday we travel to an earlier century with a visit to Heiligenkreuz Abbey, Europe’s largest Cistercian Monastery. The Monastery lies behind protective walls and is less than half an hour’s drive from Vienna. With 900 years of uninterrupted history, Heiligenkreuz is both a tourist attraction and a deeply spiritual experience. The Cistercian monks gather several times a day to praise God by singing a Gregorian chant. On our tour we can listen and watch this medieval ritual, see the Romanesque nave and facade, the Gothic cloister, and the neo-Gothic high altar. There are also several Baroque paintings, tombs of four ruling dukes of the Babenbergs and a Trinity column and the Josefbrunnen fountain.
