Day 1: Arrive London, England
Arrive in London, England and take your provided shuttle to the group's hotel. Meet all your new singles travel friends as we are greeted in the lobby by our tour host at 7:00pm. Then walk to a local restaurant for an optional dinner.

 

Day 2: London, England - York, England
LPA London BridgeDiscover the grandeur of London aboard an open-top, double-decker bus on our morning sightseeing tour. See Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Soak in the sights of St Paul’s Cathedral, pass the historic Westminster Abbey, drive by the Queen’s royal residence of Buckingham Palace, view the London Eye and much more. With audio commentary throughout our journey, it’s the perfect way to see the beauty of London while hearing about its rich and famous history.
Time to depart for York, a walled city in northeast England that was founded by ancient Romans. york CliffordGrab your luggage, board our train, sit back and relax as our train passes through green rolling hills and valleys on our 2 hour scenic ride to York.
Upon arrival in York, we'll check-in and meet our local guide for our walking tour of the best preserved ancient city in England. Stroll the the labyrinthine old streets and view The Walls, the largest cathedral of its age in England (known as The Minster), Cliffords Tower (the Norman stronghold of the city), The Shambles (the medieval market street), the ruined monastery of St Marys..and much more.
Tonight enjoy your Welcome Dinner at a local pub.

 

Day 3: York, England
York Castle MuseumStep back in time as we discover the amazing history of York, dating back to the Viking. First stop is the York Castle Museum, famous for its collections of costume, textiles, military and social history. Immerse yourself in over 400 years of York's past as we wander through Victorian streets, venture into the prison cell of notorious highwaymen and discover what life was like on the front line in the First World War.
Then on to the Jorvik Viking Centre, where we will stand on the site of houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik as it stood nearly 1,000 years ago. Discover the lives of the inhabitants of 10th-century York as we travel around the reconstruction of the city. The people who lived and worked in Viking-age York came from far and wide. The city, a prosperous trading hub welcomed goods from all over the Viking world. In our Jorvik Jorvik Viking Centreexperience, discover more of this cultural ‘melting pot’ with the help of 22 animatronics characters, with a strong emphasis on authenticity, everything from their clothing, facial features and speech has been meticulously researched.
No visit to York would be complete without a walk around the City Walls. At 2.1 miles long, the beautifully preserved walls are the longest medieval town walls in England. There are five main bars or gateways, one Victorian gateway, one postern (a small gateway) and 45 towers. Enjoy some amazing views as we take a leisurely afternoon stroll.

 

Day 4: York, England – Edinburgh, Scotland
AUK trainfter breakfast, it's time to board our train for Edinburgh. Enjoy panoramic vistas, dramatic coastline and castle ruins on our 2 1/2 hour journey to Scotland. Our train will travel through the beautiful town of Durham, where the River Wear loops around the Romanesque Durham Cathedral and Norman Durham Castle. Upon arrival the dark stone buildings of Edinburgh surround Waverley Station and welcome us into their history-filled alleys.
Experience the grandeur of Scotland’s capital on our afternoon tour of Edinburgh. With our local edinburgh castle scotlandguide, we'll tour the city’s main attractions such as Holyrood Palace, and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Stroll along the Royal Mile and through Old Town, the city’s oldest quarter strewn with historic landmarks. Visit inside Edinburgh Castle, a huge and wonderful place to explore. It’s rich with history, has superb architecture and the castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

 

Day 5: Edinburgh, Scotland (Stirling Castle - Loch Lomond)
sterling castleToday begins with a short ride through the rugged Scottish countryside to Stirling and our first stop. Stirling Castle, a critical medieval stronghold and former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots. Visit the castle where a number of Scottish Kings and Queens have been baptized, crowned, or died in or near Stirling Castle. At least one King was murdered nearby: while another committed murder within its walls. Stand in the Great Hall, the largest medieval banqueting hall ever built in Scotland and Imagine the great banquets and battles that Luss scotlandtook place around the castle as you look towards the southern Highlands and the Ochil Hills.
Then we travel into the wild country, coursing though rolling hills and green pastures to Luss, a village on the west bank of Loch Lomond within the Trossachs National Park. Experience the magic of Loch Lomond’s magnificent scenery onboard our cruise ship. The banks and islands of the Loch have been home to some of Scotland’s best-known clans – for example the McGregors and Colquhouns (who fought a bloody battle in nearby Glen Fruin in 1603), the Buchanans, McFarlanes and Galbraiths.


Day 6: Edinburgh - Gretna Green, Scotland - Liverpool, England
Gretna GreenToday we leave Scotland behind as we travel south back to England stopping on the way at Gretna Green, famous for runaway weddings.  Discover the history and experience the magic of anvil weddings and runaway romance at the famous blacksmiths shop museum and exhibition, including a wedding re-entactment.
Sit back and appreciate the amazing views of England's Lake District as we make our way to Liverpool. The Lake District is the United Kingdom's most popular national park and a popular vacation destination, famous for its lakes, forests and mountains.

Travel through history at The Beatles Story, the world's largest permanent exhibit purely devoted the beatles storyto the lives and times of The Beatles. Join us on a magical history tour and see how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune to become the greatest band of all time – from their Liverpool childhood, through the early days of the band, to world domination and on to their solo careers. Find out how the Fab Four met, go behind the scenes at the famous Abbey Road Studios and take an underwater trip on the Yellow Submarine! Hang out at the Casbah Coffee Club or explore the stunning replica of the Cavern Club. Listen to The Beatles story unfold through the 'Living History' audio guide beautifully narrated by John Lennon's sister, Julia.
Tonight we visit the famous Cavern Club in person. Listen to some music and take in the vibe.

 

Day 7: Liverpool - Stoke on Trent - Birmingham - Tintern - Cardiff, Wales
birmingham englandToday is a full day of touring and shopping. Our first stop is in Stoke on Trent, about an hour from Liverpool at the World of Wedgewood. Trace over 250 years of ground-breaking design and production and discover Josiah Wedgwood’s lasting influence on industry and society; then shop at the largest Wedgwood retail space in the world.
Our second stop is Birmingham, home to multiple Industrial Revolution-era landmarks. Submerge yourself in the rich history and culture of the Jewellery Quarter on our guided walking tour. Discover Tintern Abbeythe architecture of the buildings around the square particularly those converted into workshops called "shopping" where jewelery of all sorts has been manufactured over the centuries.
For more than 500 years, Tintern Abbey has stood as a testament to endurance and romance amid a wild land. Our next stop was founded as a Cistercian monastery dedicated to austerity, poverty, and prayer, today the structure is one of Wales most famous medieval ruins. Enjoy time to stroll and take photos of the Abbey before we reach today's final destination, Cardiff Wales.

 

Day 8: Cardiff, Wales
Cardif WalesThis morning we will tour Wales' capital city and the eleventh-largest city in the United Kingdom. Cardiff is a very green city, complemented by Bute Park which sits in the heart of the city. It has a reputation as a city of castles, having 5 different castles within its surroundings. Visit the revitalized dockside where coal was once shipped across the world and opera singers now delight music-loving audiences.
Our afternoon will be spent at St Fagans National Museum of History, an open-air museum in Cardiff chronicling the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of the Welsh people. The St Fagans National Museum of Historymuseum stands on the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house. During the last fifty years, over fifty original buildings from different locations in Wales and from different historical periods have been re-built in the 100-acre parkland. Each building is frozen in time and opens a door into Welsh history offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.

 

Day 9: Cardiff, Wales - London, England
Roman Bath EnglandToday we say goodbye to Wales as we travel back towards England and our final destination London. The city of Bath in South West England, founded in the 1st century AD by the Romans who used the natural hot springs as a thermal spa is our fist stop.
The Roman Baths is the site of extensive ruins and an interactive museum filled with many treasures and visual snippets that transport you back to Roman times and the lives of the Aquae Sulis people. Walk on ancient pavements as the Romans did 2,000 years ago, and explore ancient chambers historically housing changing rooms and tepid plunge pools. Constructed in around 70AD as a grand bathing and socializing complex, the Roman Baths is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world, where 1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water, reaching 46°C, still fills the bathing site every single day.
Stonehenge EnglandA trip to England would not be complete without a visit to Stonehenge, a prehistoric ring of stones with each standing stone around 13 feet high, 7 feet wide and weighing around 25 tons. Take a walk around the Stone Circle, discover the story of Stonehenge – the stones, the landscape, the people and its meaning then wander around the Neolithic houses and step inside to imagine how people lived 4,500 years ago.
Enjoy our final views of the English countryside as we travel the last lag of our trip into London. Check-in and relax before our Farewell Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

 

Day 10 - Depart London, England

After a final breakfast we have to say goodbye to the United Kingdom and all our new single travel friends as we are transferred to the airport and our flights home.
