Enjoy the landscape of the Italian countryside as we drive towards Stresa and Lake Maggiore and get our first view of the area from the top of Mount Mottarone, the Mountain between the Two Lakes. Take the "Mottarone Vetta" chair lift to the summit and admire the astonishing 360° panorama from the Po Valley to the peaks of the Alps, from the summit of Monte Rosa to the seven lakes.
Board the cable car for our journey down the mountain to the village of Stresa and savor the amazing views of Lake Maggiore, including Isola Bella and Isola Superiore. Stopping at the Alpine Gardens, a natural attraction with a collection of almost 1000 species of plants. The altitude and position of the gardens provides the perfect climate for cultivating alpine and subalpine species plus a panoramic balcony to enjoy a stunning view of the Alps and the Swiss waters of Lake Maggiore.
Upon arrival in Stresa, our bus will drive us the short distance to the 4 star Regina Palace Hotel. Check-in and check-out the amenities and grounds. Day 3: Lake Maggiore Cruise - Full Day
Lake Maggiore, surrounded by the Lepontine Alps, covers an area of ??81.8 square miles and its coasts overlooks small villages , nineteenth-century villas and unique gardens whose beauty is recognized and appreciated throughout the world. Immerse yourself in art, history and natural beauty as we step onboard our private boat. Our cruise will take us around the lake and the 3 Borromean Islands, Isola Madre famous for its botanical garden, the picturesque Isola Pescatori and the most famous Isola Bella.
Just 1640 feet from Stresa, are the terraces of the Italian Botanical Garden of Isola Bella leapfroggers. This complex of Baroque art has ten terraces full of remarkable plants and flowers: rhododendrons, oleanders and a rich collection of camellias brought as a gift by various guests from all over the world, exotic botanical species, flowers and bulbs that color the flowerbeds, parterres and hedges, all taken care of by the skilled hand of the gardeners.
The Isola Superiore dei Pescatori, loved by artists and poets, is the most northerly of the three principal Borromean Islands and, with a population of 25 in 2018, it is the only one to be inhabited all year. The Borromei pretty much left Isola Superiore, frequently referred to as "The Island of the Fishermen" alone when they were converting its neighbors Isola Bella and Isola
Madre into sumptuous garden-palace combo. Here we can walk in a typical village, with its charming streets, among ancient houses built around the church of San Vittore. The restaurants offer typical dishes of the lake: hot and cold, salmon trout, perch fillet, grilled fresh water.
Isola Madre, located in the center of the Borromeo Gulf, is the largest of the islands of Lake Maggiore and home to an elegant villa surrounded by extensive botanic gardens. The gardens are composed of a thousand colors and flowers of rhododendrons, magnolias, azaleas and essences from all over the world. Also in the park free live pheasants, peacocks and other colorful birds.
Day 4: Stresa - Como - Brunate - Menaggio
After breakfast, it's time to leave our first lake behind as we drive to Lake Como and our beautiful hotel on the lake. After about an hour, we will reach the city of Como, located in the southern part of Lake Como. It is known for its Gothic-style Duomo, the panoramic funicular and the pedestrian path along the lake. Como is a city of culture and the Old Town features elements from its Roman and Medieval past, as well as religious buildings and palaces. On our guided tour. discover the Broletto, town hall palace,Teatro Sociale and Church of San Fedele. Our guide will take us to Via degli artigiani, a very important area in the historic center of Como where over time the most important tradesmen have developed their skills. Here we will find the shops of the ancient artisans.Next we take the funicular railway, which has linked Como and Brunate since 1894 and is still the quickest way of travelling between these two towns. It is also an opportunity to enjoy enchanting views over Lake Como and the Alps.
Brunate on Lake Como is a town in the hills rather than along the lakeshore and has ancient origins going back to the Celts. It is a getaway for wealthy and famous and one of the things you'll immediately notice is the vast variety of villas dotting the hillside. The landscape is covered by forests, mostly by maple, ash, pine, birch, locust, oak, chestnut and beech trees. And of course, there are fantastic views from up here! You can see across the lake to the green hills that give way to the rugged mountain peaks. The defining feature is the tall white lighthouse that rises from amidst the trees. There are several restaurants in Brunate, making it worth the trip not just to enjoy the panoramas but to eat! Some places are tucked in the countryside, while others offer nice views of the lake, and still others are down-home family-run restaurants.
Next we drive about half way up the western side of Lake Como, to the attractive and thriving town of Menaggio and the Grand Hotel Menaggio that overlooks the blue waters of Lake Como.
Day 5: Lake Como Cruise - Full Day
Lake Como, a deep glacial lake surrounded by soaring mountains and lush gardens, has wooded mountain slopes that protect the lake from
temperature extremes. The clear blue waters of Lake Como are nestled between rugged mountains and fringed with elegant villas and quaint villages that tumble down wooded hillsides to the lake shore. The enduring charm and beauty of the Italian Lakes has lured everyone from Roman emperors and Hollywood celebrities to the cream of European society.
The best way to really see Lake Como is from the water, aboard a private boat: view the grand homes, magnificent gardens and gorgeous backdrops that are only visible from the shining blue of the lake. Cruising along, our guide will explain the history of the lake, and tell us about the many European aristocrats and Hollywood glitterati who have properties here. View the idyllic islands that play host to grand palaces and picturesque fishing villages as well as superb gardens that nurture plants from all over the world.
Day 6: St Moritz, Switzerland
This morning we drive north to the town of Torino, Italy which is close to the border of Switzerland and board the famous Bernina Express, one of the most scenic train rides in Europe. Our rail journey takes us all the way to the world-renowned Swiss mountain resort of St. Moritz. The train will take us from an altitude of 1407 feet up to 6000 feet! We’ll cross the spiraling viaduct at Brusio and the Bernina Pass to the alpine valley known as the Engadin. Marvel at the scenery of the Alps as we view monumental glaciers, cross steep gorges, and pass through tunnels under some of the area’s most massive mountains.
Once we arrive in St Moritz, there will be free time for lunch and shopping before we board the funicular to the Chantarella station. From the station, we'll stroll along the approximately 1 1/4 mile theme trail to the original Heidi Hut used in the 1978. There are around 200 different species of plants, mostly protected mountain flowers, and they are planted in pretty flower islands and marked with numbers.
After a wonderful afternoon in St Moritz, the playground of the rich sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as we drive back to our hotel on Lake Como.
Day 7: Free Day
Menaggio, although peaceful and relaxing there’s is are lot of activities to do in and around Menaggio. You can enjoy walks through the town and its numerous gardens. Water enthusiasts can head to The Lido, a modern building to plunge into the cool, fresh waters of Lake Como. Water skiers can rent a power boat and skis, rent a sailing boat and skiffs are also available. The Menaggio-Cadenabbia Golf Club is about 3 miles from town and quite a wonderful place to play a round. Visit the information center on the square for lots of information on local walks. As Menaggio is linked by ferry to all parts of the Lake the wonders of traveling by water transport can be thoroughly enjoyed.
Day 8: Como to ParmaLeave the beautiful Italian lake district behind as we drive a little over an hour to Parma, located halfway between the Lakes and Cinque Terre. Since Ancient Roman times, the city of Parma has been considered Italy’s gastronomic capital so get your taste buds ready to discover Parma and its culinary traditions. Parma takes its cheese seriously and needs to be aged for a minimum of two years. The cheese is produced from the milk of cows that graze in the hills of the Po Valley.
Discover another culinary specialty of this area: Parma ham, better known as prosciutto di Parma. Famed for it delicate and sweet flavor, sliced paper thin, and aged a minimum of 400 days, it is produced from specially bred pigs in the countryside just outside of the city.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon in Parma as it is a compact, very walkable city. The city is colorful with lots of history and interesting architecture, beautiful gardens, medieval piazzas and fun touristy shopping.
Day 9: Parma - Cinque Terre - Genoa
Discover the Italian Riviera as we travel through the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre. After breakfast we drive to La Spezia, meet our guide, and travel by local train to Cinque Terre. The first village we encounter is Riomaggiore, it sits right on the Gulf of Genoa, at the upper edge of Italy’s boot, where the water is unspoiled and the bluest of blues. A stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets, brings us to the shoreline on the Mediterranean's Gulf of Genoa, with a small beach and a wharf framed by tower houses.
Our next stop will be the beautiful town of Manarola, built on a high rock 230 feet above sea level and one of the most charming of the Cinque Terre villages. The village is all ups and downs, with steep narrow alleys leading to the sea. The tiny harbor features a boat ramp, picturesque multicolored houses facing the sea, a tiny piazza and some of the best deep-water swimming around.
Corniglia is the central town of the five villages and has a population of less than 300 inhabitants. It is located in an elevated position above the ocean, atop steep cliffs, and it is the only Cinque Terre town without direct access to the sea. The tiny village is connected to its train station by a footpath known as Lardarina (377 stairs) and connected to the other villages by well maintained footpaths. Corniglia is an ancient Roman village that is surrounded on three sides by vineyards and terraces.
The small fishing village of Vernazza is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The medieval castle was built to protect the village from pirates and the tiny port is surrounded by colorful, antique homes clinging to the cliffs. Vernazza's historic wealth is evidenced by the elegant style of its houses and streets, which are decorated with tower forms, open galleries, refined arcades and elaborate doorways. The village is surrounded by very steeply-terraced olive groves which are said to produce among the finest olive oil in the country. The last of the five villages along the Cinque Terre strip, Monterosso al Mare is the most visited, because it has the only sizable sand beach and the biggest hotels. The village, located on hills cultivated with vines and olives has amazing beaches, beautiful reefs and crystal clear waters. The old town area is separated from the more modern resort area by the Aurora tower and is home to the ruins of a medieval castle and San Francesco church.
Our full day in Cinque Terres will conclude with a train ride to Levanto to meet our bus for our drive to Genoa, where we spend the evening.
Day 10: Genoa - Milan City Tours
After breakfast we meet our guide for our tour of Genoa, the 6th most populated city in Italy as well as its largest port. For 700 years Genoa was one of Italy's most powerful city-states and its colorful buildings tumble downhill towards the waterfront. Genoa has a rich tradition of art, music, gastronomy, architecture and history. Our guide will explain the city's illustrious history; this was, after all, the birthplace of Christopher Columbus!
Then it is on to Milan, Italy's global capital of fashion and design to explore its most famous sights. La Scala theatre: the opera house, where the high society and VIPs show their status to the world of music, La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the sparkling and exclusive shopping mall of the Milan fashion city and the Duomo cathedral, a masterpiece of gothic art with its white marble spires.
Time for our Farewell Dinner before we drive to back to the airport and our final night's hotel.
Day 11: Depart Milan, Italy
After a final breakfast we have to say Arrivederci to Italy and all our new single travel friends as we are transferred to the airport and our flights home.

Our city tour takes us past famous landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope, built in 1666 by the Dutch East India Company, City Hall, a baroque building and the Grand Parade on the way to Table Mountain.
Enjoy the aerial cableway to the top of Table Mountain, flanked by Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head, it provides a dramatic backdrop to the city. The cable cars rotate 360 degrees as they travel up 991 feet above sea level, giving us panoramic views over the city. Five minutes is all it takes to reach the summit and once there we can marvel at the views, see wild flowers and the famous silver tree or do a bit of shopping at the extensive curio shop. The cableway only operates when weather permits.
After time for lunch we will board a ferry to the famous Robben Island, whose prison was once home to the former South African president Nelson Mandela. An interactive drum circle offers you the opportunity to join in and learn how to play the djembe. Vacation Days 3: Cape Town - Stellenbosch
Today is our opportunity to take a breathtaking journey through the wine lands of the Cape. The route takes us through the imposing valley Monument in Paarl to Stellenbosch, the oldest University city in South Africa, with its picturesque Cape Dutch buildings. Wander through the oak-lined streets of Stellenbosch, internationally renowned for its award-winning wines, fantastic restaurants, trendy culture and historic buildings.
We will visit Nederburg Wine Estate for wine tasting. Nederburg, first established in the Paarl Valley in 1791, today is one of South Africa’s most trusted and awarded brands. In 1990 the stunning farm became the first in the country to be declared a conservation area and the stately and grandiose Manor
House is now a national monument. The cellar tour gives insight into how wine is made as we are taken through the state-of-the-art facilities and the old Cellar Museum, while wine tasting takes place in the Visitor’s Centre under the guidance of a knowledgeable sommelier.
Next we visit South Africa’s ‘French Corner’ in the Cape Winelands, Franshhoek one of the most beautiful wine valleys in the world. Originally known as the Valley of the Huguenots, a community of French Huguenots were granted land in this valley by the Dutch government of the Cape, after fleeing their homeland when Protestantism was outlawed in France in 1685. Today, the town still very much feels like a little slice of the French countryside and most farms retained their original French names.
Vacation Day 4: Cape Town - Cape Peninsula Tour
Experience some of the most spectacular views in the world. Our tour begins with a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast passing through the fishing village of Hout Bay, where we will take a short boat trip to Duiker Island. The island is a sanctuary for thousands of Cape Fur seals (actually sea lions originating from the Antarctic) as well as a variety of seabirds including gannets, cormorants and sea gulls. It is illegal to land on the island, but the boat will takes us within arm's reach of the seals who seem to know they're the center of attention and put up a fantastic performance, diving and twisting with amazing speed and agility.
Drive along Cape Town's most scenic road: Hacked out of the face of the mountain, Chapman's
Peak connects Hout Bay with Noordhoek and for five and a half miles hugs the coast of the Atlantic Seaboard. Chapman's Peak Drive climbs steadily from the harbor, skirting 114 curves to follow the rocky coastline presenting some truly magnificent views of the sandy bays below. The combination of steep, almost thrilling rocky inclines, shimmering blue waters and expansive skies simply take the breath away.
We stop at Cape Point to visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve, recognized for its extraordinary land formation, rich and diverse fauna and unique flora. The Hope is a scenic wonder, where soft white sandy beaches alternate with rugged stretches of rock and breathtaking cliffs.
Then we visit the jackass penguins at Boulder's Beach. This small piece of the coastline has become a haven for these birds and is one of the few remaining places where they are still able to roost without threat from human interference. View these birds up close whilst not interfering with their natural habitat.
Discover Cape flora of every variety at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. The gardens, established in 1913 to promote, conserve and display the extraordinarily rich and diverse flora of southern Africa, today has over 7 000 species in cultivation.
We return to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
Vacation Day 5: Cape Town - Kruger (Kapama) Cape Town
After breakfast we will travel to the Cape Town airport for our flights to Hoedspruit. On arrival we will transfer to the Kapama River Lodge, the largest private game lodge in the Greater Kruger National Park region. Kapama Private Game Reserve occupies a vast area between the northern Drakensberg Mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park, the Klaserie River flows through the reserve and offers ideal prowling grounds for leopard. Kapama's 65 square miles has all the big game of Africa with 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. This equates to huge natural diversity and includes the famed 'Big 5' - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Game drives and walks are conducted by skilled rangers and trackers through the rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests that make up this appealing African reserve.
We arrive in time for our first late afternoon open vehicle game drive. At about 3.30pm everybody convenes for high tea, before departing with our ranger/tracker team for the late afternoon African bush safari.
Enjoy an optional sundowner drink along the way, as we get out of the vehicle to stretch our legs and watch the sun go down over the distant Drakensberg Mountains. As darkness descends it's time to return to the safety of the Landrover and let the tracker scan the landscape with a spotlight picking out the glinting eyes of nocturnal animals. Return to the lodge around 7pm, where there is time to freshen up before dinner.
Vacation Day 6: Kruger (Kapama) - Safari
We enjoy two daily game drives today and our skilled ranger and tracker will do their best to find the animals of Africa for us to admire. Expect a wake-up call between 5am and 5:30am and gather for tea or coffee and rusks, a hard, dry biscuit or a twice-baked bread before we head out at first light. If we are lucky, the big cats will still be around after their night of hunting. This is Big 5 country (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo) all of which are possible to see during our stay in the Kapama Game Reserve.
There are also many other species to be seen, large and small, as well as fascinating plants and colorful birds. We stop halfway through the morning game drive for hot drinks and rusks from the Landrover snack box and return at around 9am for breakfast.
During the rest of the day, you are likely to see wildlife like nyala antelope and vervet monkeys around the lodges.
Our next safari begins at 3:30pm so relax by the pool or take an optional tour till then.
Elephant Interaction ($160) - South Africa ElephantThe elephant interaction offers the visitor the unique opportunity to get amazingly close to an animal which can usually only be viewed from a respectful distance. Your ranger will drive you to a pre-arranged location in the bush where you will get to see sixteen African Elephants, which range in age from less than eighteen months, to thirty years. These trained elephants take half an hour out of their day to act as ambassadors for their kind. After a brief introduction, some of the elephants are brought forward for you to meet and interact with. Here you can see, feel and even smell the elephant while both feeding and photographing them. It is and ideal forum to learn about elephants, both wild and trained. An experienced handler accompanies each elephant and is there to educate and inform the guests about the individual animals, the herd in general and of course to answer any questions. You will see the behavior of the babies playing together while under the watchful eyes of their mothers, while witnessing the more mature habit of the adults.
Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species ($85) - This is an ideal activity for the restless to fill up a morning after breakfast. A guide will take your to the Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species facility where cheetah and a number of other rehabilitated animals can be viewed at close range. An educational video is shown to explain the projects undertaken by this unique establishment. A guided tour will follow to view the cheetah and other animals.
Vacation Day 7: Kruger (Kapama) - Safari - Orighstad
Another early morning as we enjoy our final game drive or take an optional balloon ride ($485). Your one-hour hot air balloon flight will slowly and serenely pass over the Lowveld section of the Blyde River where farmland is dotted between private nature reserves and wildlife estates. As the early morning sun rises in the sky, marvel at the sparkling vistas and the awesome beauty of nature. We may spot early morning grazers such as giraffe and wildebeest and the fresh splendor of the Savannah plains will take your breath away.
After our morning activities we travel towards Mpumalanga, a province in eastern South Africa, bordering the nations of Swaziland and Mozambique.
Meander down a seemingly endless river canyon with a visit to the Blyde River Canyon and
Bourke’s Luck Potholes. This awe-inspiring stretch of landscape is filled with some of the most beautifully scenic vistas in South Africa, where one breathtaking view follows the next. The Bourke's Luck Potholes mark the beginning of the canyon and comprise intriguing geological formations. Incorporating the third largest canyon in the world and impressive lush scenery, Blyde River Canyon Reserve consists mostly of red sandstone and has some of the deepest precipitous cliffs of any canyon on the planet.
Tonight relax, unwind and connect again to your spiritual self in a place of peace in the heart of the Southern African bushveld at the Mount Sheba Lodge.
Vacation Day 8: Orighstad - Johannesburg
After breakfast it is time to leave the reserves behind as we transfer from Orighstad to the big city of Johannesburg. Enjoy the scenic views on our 4 hour morning drive. Check-in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Vacation Day 9: Johannesburg

Then enjoy free time at the Bruma Flea Market, an arts and crafts market offering handcrafted goods from South Africa and other African countries. The market supports a large number of merchants selling everything from handcrafted bead work, wood crafts and wire art to stone sculptures, African clothing and leather souvenirs.
Get a taste of vibrant and gritty street life with our tour of Soweto, located south-west of Johannesburg and made famous for its role in the struggle against apartheid. As the ruling National Party tightened its hold on apartheid and forced black people out of white areas the township grew and today Soweto still supports close to 4-million people. We will honor those who lost their lives in the liberation struggle at the Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial. A short distance away from where police opened fire on students on 16 June 1976 we will find this moving museum, dedicated to those who lost their lives in protest. The museum displays photographs of the events of that day, together with extensive commentary and audio-visual presentations.
Soak up the jovial atmosphere at Sakhumzi Restaurant, enjoy a traditional African styled buffet, nestled in
the heart of Soweto. The eatery was once an illegal bar or ‘shebeen’ during the apartheid era but is now specializes in African cuisine such as mogodu (tripe), mielie pap (corn flour) mutton stew, umleqwa (traditional-style steamed chicken) and much more.
Then we walk the path of racial segregation at the Apartheid Museum, dedicated to the history of the rise and fall of apartheid in the 20th century. The museum is filled with personal narratives and whispered conversations that show a glimpse of the characters of people that helped shape South Africa, while interactive multimedia displays recreate the experiences of racial segregation.
After a long day and a great vacation it is time for our Farewell Dinner together.

Victoria Falls, known by locals as "Mosioa-Tunya which means 'the Smoke that Thunders', is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Amazingly preserved in its natural state, Victoria Falls will inspire you as much as the town of the same name which remains small and filled with plenty of old-world frontier charm. Wildlife lovers may need to look no further than right in front of them as animals are known to roam the streets with cheeky baboons hanging around in the trees and occasionally even an elephant or two strolling across the road to the nearby Zambezi River.
Extension Vacation Day 1: Johannesburg - Victoria Falls
After breakfast in Johannesburg we will be transferred to the airport for our flight to Victoria Falls. Arriving at International airport in Victoria Falls, one of our local guides will meet the group at the airport and transfer us to our hotel, the Kingdom at Victoria Falls. Enjoy free time to relax or take a short walk to see the majestic beauty of Victoria Falls.
Soak up the beauty of Africa on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The immense, calm waters of the Zambezi River lend themselves to leisurely boat cruises along the peace and tranquility of the surrounding wilderness. From our lodge we will be taken to the jetty and begin our sailing journey upstream from the Victoria Falls. As we peacefully drift along the river we can admire the splashes of color that the setting sun paints in the sky as well as watch the wildlife that congregates along the river banks in the coolness of the evening. Our wondrous cruise is rounded off with aperitifs and snacks served on board the boat.
Extension Vacation Day 2: Victoria Falls
Today begins with a visit to Victoria Falls with our experienced tour guide to view one of the world’s natural wonders on a visit to the Zimbabwe. Shared by two countries, Zambia to the north and Zimbabwe to the south. Around two thirds of the falls are located on the Zimbabwe side and this country is also considered to have more classical views of the mains falls with footpaths leading you to breathtaking viewpoints such as Devils Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls and the very popular Rainbow Falls. The sights from here are considered some of the best on the planet while the sheer force of the tumbling water is a sensory treat as water plunges and tumbles, sending sprays of mist up into the skies. The arid data are sufficient to give an idea of them: length of the front 1 mile long, height from 295 feet to 360 feet, water flow from 68 million to 546 million gallons per minute depending on the season.
Next is free time to do some optional activities such a White River rafting or a Kayak Ride on the Zambezi River. If you prefer a more relaxing activity enjoy an “Elephant Safaris” or a Helicopter Ride
Tonight we have our final meal together at the hotel.
Extension Vacation Day 3: Depart Victoria Falls
After breakfast enjoy free time before transferring to the airport for your flight home.
