The palace and garden complex was created from 1696 onwards. Today, due to its historical significance, its unique layout and magnificent furnishings, the palace is a UNESCO World Vienna State OperaHeritage site.

Heiligenkreuz AbbeyToday we travel to an earlier century with a visit to Heiligenkreuz Abbey, Europe’s largest Cistercian Monastery. The Monastery lies behind protective walls and is less than half an hour’s drive from Vienna. With 900 years of uninterrupted history, Heiligenkreuz is both a tourist attraction and a deeply spiritual experience. The Cistercian monks gather several times a day to praise God by singing a Gregorian chant. On our tour we can listen and watch this medieval ritual, see the Romanesque nave and facade, the Gothic cloister, and the neo-Gothic high altar.
